For this image, I plan on incorporating pictures of my subject with a smile on their face and pictures of their eyes. I also plan on incorporating the shape of a heart.

For this image, I plan on using the shots of my subject riding a bike in different positions or motions. Or I may use the images of her holding a lacrosse stick at different levels and directions.

Working with different types of shutter speeds I have learned how to put emphasis on the subject through various motions. I have learned how to blur the subject, the background, how to freeze a certain motion, create blurriness in the image, etc. If I were to complete this project again I would probably change up my subject and backgrounds in each photo so I could have more variety. I would also complete my shots earlier in the day so I could get more light and an adequate ISO and take more shots for my chrono photography. I really enjoyed this project and learning about how to photograph various motions. 

Motion Shooting Assignment

For this assignment, I really enjoyed learning about the different types of motion and being able to experiment. I was successful in my shots of writing with light, frozen motion and zooming. I struggled with being able to meter my shots inside due to the iso. I struggled with my chrono shots inside but got some great ones outside, although they were a little dark.

PANNING

Part of the subject is in focus while the background is blurred. Done by using a slow shutter speed, and moving the camera with the speed of the subject.

BLURRED MOTION

The subject is blurred and the background is in focus. Achieved by using a slow shutter speed and a tripod.

FROZEN MOTION

Everything in the photograph is clear or in focus. This is done by using a fast shutter speed and I used a tripod, however camera can be hand-held.

ZOOMING

The entire image is blurred, drawing your eye to a focal point. Achieved by using a slow shutter speed and a tripod or camera can be hand-held. Adjust the zoom in or out while the photograph is being taken.

Photograph shows multiple subjects in different locations/positions. Achieved by using a fast shutter speed, at least three shots, and a tripod. The images are edited.

Shooting this assignment was a lot of fun because it was different from our other subject shots. I loved that the assignment was very broad, so we were able to interpret it and use our creativity to complete the assignment. We could use any variety of light and shapes/motion to create very unique intriguing images. If I were to complete this assignment again, I would think of different shapes, or writing to outline with my light in order to form and create a more uniform image. 

BLURRED MOTION

These photographs are so visually appealing because the blurriness makes your mind visualize the subject in motion. It allows you to create an image of what the photograph would be like if the subject was in full focus.

FROZEN MOTION

These photographs are so visually appealing because we are not able to stop a motion in its tracks and see what it looks like, the motion is continuous. However, with these photographs we are able to see what it looks like to freeze motion and we are able to picture what happens leading up to the image and what happens afterwards.

PANNING

These images are so appealing because it makes us interpret what the subject is passing by since the background is blurred. It draws our eye to the subject and we are able to picture it (the subject) in motion. 

ZOOMING 

What makes these images so appealing is the effect of the blurriness. Our eye is drawn to a focal point or the center of the image or the main subject. We picture the photograph moving, even though it is not really in motion.

WRITING WITH LIGHT

What makes these images so appealing if the contrast of the lights with the backgrounds. The lights stand out and allow our eyes to follow the leading lines. It creates rhythm in the photographs.

CHRONO

These images are visually appealing because of the repetition of different locations/positions of the same subject. It creates rhythm and movement as we follow the subject from left to right across the image, which makes us visualize the motion occurring. 

Blurred Motion: This type of motion is achieved by using middle aperture and a slow shutter speed. The background is in focus, and the subject is blurred and appears to be in motion.

Frozen Motion: With this type of motion the whole image is in focus. A high aperture is used and a high shutter speed, in order to have no blurriness and capture the motion. 

Panning: This type of motion is achieved by having the subject in focus and the background blurred. The photographer moves with the subject for this effect using a low aperture and slow shutter speed.

Zooming: With this type of motion, the outer edges of the photograph are blurred in order to draw your eye to the focal point. The photographer used a certain focus with a small aperture and slow shutter speed.

Writing with Light: With this type of motion the entire photograph may be in focus. Points of emphasis and leading lines are achieved with the writing of the colored lights. They create movement. Writing with light is accomplished by using a higher aperture and a high, long shutter speed. 

 Chrono: With this type of motion, the subject appears several times in the photograph but in different locations. Repetition is used and is taken with a high aperture and high shutter speed so the subject and background is in focus.
